We’ve teamed up with Ethel’s Vintage Teapot – a vintage tearoom in Derby Market Hall – to offer our subscribers a free afternoon tea! This friendly shop serves a variety of homemade, freshly baked cakes, scones and cream teas.

Ethel showed Gill to bake from the age of three, serving as inspiration for her to bake for the church and the homeless community in Derby. With a love of baking inspired by owner Gill’s nanna, the shop has flourished over the years and carried on Ethel’s baking legacy!

After drafting-in some help to renovate the shop, and in her words "through God's will", Ethel’s today is a delightful setting to enjoy a spot of tea. The shop is wheelchair friendly, has a comfy ‘mummy chair’ and microwave bottle sterilizer for mother and baby – plus stacks of colouring books for the little ones to enjoy.

Moreover, Ethel’s Vintage Teapot has plans to introduce kids’ activities for the school holidays.

Opening times: 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Saturday.
